Street and Maintenance Technician

The Town of Harpersville is seeking to fill a full-time hourly position. The Street and Maintenance Technician assists the Manager of Streets, Landscape & Maintenance with activities regarding maintaining and repairing the Town’s streets, rights of way, and Town properties by assisting with the following duties.

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Proactively searches for improvement projects while maintaining day-to-day duties.
  • Visits and evaluates work sites to determine time needed to complete work, labor need and expenses for each work order.
  • Requisitions tools, equipment, and supplies.
  • Studies production schedules and estimated hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Interprets Town policies and adheres to all safety regulations.
  • Suggests changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency.
  • Operates various pieces of small and heavy equipment; cuts grass and trims weeds.
  • Performs all maintenance and janitorial duties for certain Town facilities.
  • Repairs streets and sidewalks.
  • Barricades roads for floods or event purposes.
  • Oversees the Harpersville Municipal Cemetery.
  • Removes and replaces damaged traffic/street signs.
  • Replaces worn or damaged parts in machines and equipment.
  • Oversees setup/take down of Harpersville Day and holiday decorations.
  • Maintains orderly operations by cleaning shop area and equipment, including vehicles.

 

Education/Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED) plus one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience in construction, equipment operation, or commercial landscaping.

Compensation is $30,409.60 - $36,358.40, depending on experience, education, and other training. The Town of Harpersville is proud to offer an excellent benefits package.
